I just love how God speaks to me during my time with Him in the morning. He is so in love with His children, and He is so happy to just have that time with us!
He truly spoke to me today in a way that I needed… He “told me like it is,” then built me back up.
You see, one of the things that I continually confess to Him is my pride, and my desire to do, do, do. It’s so easy to assume that what I do makes a different. I was reminded this morning that it’s not about me (at all)… it’s about Him.
1 Corinthians 3: 7 & 11
“So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives growth.”
“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
Then, I went on to read in Leviticus about burnt offerings, and blood splatters on the alter as part of the sacrifice. I begin to hear a song… “What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!”
It used to be about what man did… then Jesus came and became the blood sacrifice. Yet again, it’s about Him and what He did and continues to do.
And as I’m confessing my pride and my ugly heart, I hear “Your grace is sufficient for me. Your strength is made perfect when I am weak. All that I cling to, I lay at Your feet. Your grace is sufficient for me.”
He loves us so much, and He has given us His grace and mercy. His grace is sufficient… His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
God’s word is powerful, alive, and true. And so are the words that He speaks through His people. All it takes is the time to listen… which is hard.
I very easily get distracted from my priorities by things that I want to DO… and those things are not bad… but it needs to be about Him and not about me.
One other thing that God spoke to me through my pastor (Chuck Swindoll) is “what’s your motivation?” My desire is to ask this before I do/say things… What IS my motivation? Is it for my glory, or God’s?
“My heart will sing no other name! Jesus! Jesus!“
